PSEUDO(S) / Earnie Washington = Thelonious Monk? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

On
april 14, 1947, the Smalls Paradise concert was a "Battle of the Baritone
Sax" between Leo Parker and Serge Chaloff. In the accompanying group,
we can read EARNIE WASHINGTON, called the Mad Genius On Piano,
which let me think it may be a pseudo used by Thelonious Monk. And on september 1947, in DownBeat, there's an article titled "Thelonious Monk, Genius Of Bop" by Bill Gottlieb where one can read : (...) "Thelonious, the George Washington of be-bop, is one elusive gent". |
